Estava prestes a perguntar se ele estaria bem com um Alfa, mas logo se lembrou que Ash havia dito que também saia com Alfas. O contato inesperado fez seu coração estremecer em confusão. Sem mencionar que Carlyle nunca teve um contato tão íntimo com ninguém, nem mesmo com um Ômega.
Havia ido há pouco encontros. Não foi como se quisesse, mas teve relações com ômegas com quem saiu por necessidade. Encontrou pessoas com as quais teve de estabelecer um contato muito estreito. Às vezes até chegava a passar a noite juntos mesmo que não estivessem namorando. O desejo de Carlyle realmente não importava muito. Porque o seu próprio valor era determinado pela necessidade.
Naquela reunião, esse tipo de contato era desnecessário. Dar a mão para um acompanhante era feito apenas em encontros formais, deveria beijar apenas quando fosse absolutamente necessário. Ash cruzou os braços. Contemplando algo, ele se aproximou de Carlyle. Exatamente a distância que Carlyle havia se afastado.
— Não conheço Carlyle muito bem, mas acho que pela nossa última conversa, você não parece ter vivido uma vida livre.
Sentiu uma pontada no peito. Carlyle nem sempre tinha o direito de escolha sobre as coisas mais importantes da sua vida, na maioria das vezes ele só podia palpitar sobre coisas triviais sem sentido. Inclusive naquele momento.
— Você pode pensar que é presunçoso da minha parte, mas eu quero que Carlyle seja mais…… Consciente das pequenas alegrias. Espero que você se acostume com os toques e não ache desnecessários.
Por que essa pessoa está fazendo isso comigo, a quem eu só encontrou duas vezes?
— Sinto muito, mas não acho que essa seja da sua conta. Sr. Jones, concordo com o que disse anteriormente. Mas não acho que o que vem a seguir diga respeito a você.
— Mas como conversamos antes, continuaremos nos encontrando.

Ash fez um som melancólico, e imediatamente pensou em algo.
— Então considere como um pedido.

— É um pouco desrespeitoso, mas acho que é justo pensar nisso como uma troca por eu dar o que Carlyle quer.
Ash riu suavemente. Parecia uma criança inocente.
— Vai pedir apenas isso? Não parece um acordo justo.
Ficou envergonhado com o pedido. Ash Jones ainda não estava recebendo nada realmente importante em troca. Claro, seria melhor cumprir um pedido em vez de dever-lhe um favor unilateralmente, mas não parecia um acordo justo para saldar a dívida.

Ash estendeu a mão novamente. Um dedo roçou levemente contra as costas da mão de Carlyle.

Os dedos que estavam acariciando suavemente as costas de sua mão lentamente se entrelaçaram e se cravaram nela.

A ansiedade que ele sentia antes ressurgiu em sua mente. Carlyle Frost agora estava sendo influenciado por aquele homem em um grau absurdo. Mesmo que tenha sido um começo desfavorável em primeiro lugar, ele estava fazendo mais do que o esperado.
— …. Não será muito eficaz.
Com as palavras relutantes de Carlyle, Ash sorriu da maneira mais brilhante que ele já tinha visto.
— Isso é um sim?
Apesar de não gostar, Carlyle não conseguiu encontrar nenhum motivo para recusar no final. Ele concordou em deixar Ash segurar sua mão.

Felizmente, Ash não segurou sua mão intencionalmente depois de entrar no táxi. O táxi os deixou no destino em menos de 20 minutos. Ash se aproximou da entrada da galeria, que tinha um lado decorado com vidro, e caminhou primeiro em direção à porta automática fechada, pegou seu celular e imediatamente ligou para alguém.
— Bom dia, Vanessa. Sim, estou aqui. Na entrada.
Talvez usasse um tom amigável com todo mundo, Ash falou ao telefone com uma expressão relaxada. A pessoa ao telefone caminhou, olhou para frente, então ergueu a mão e acenou.
— Ash!

— Lamento dizer isso na primeira vez que te vejo, mas talvez…… Você é nobre?
Quando Ash estava prestes a perguntar por que ele estava fazendo isso, Vanessa perguntou, como se fosse realmente interessante. Já fazia um tempo desde que ouviu tal pergunta. Quando estava no estrangeiro, conversava com poucas pessoas que compreendiam seu inglês aristocrático, e quando estava em casa, raramente encontrava pessoas comuns.
— Isso porque é uma pronúncia que só ouço em dramas e filmes. Eu perguntei porque achei tão legal.

A partir das 12h, foram servidos petiscos e drinks preparados pela galeria. Talvez fosse porque não falava com ninguém sobre seus gostos há tanto tempo que se sinto mais confortável tendo esse tipo de conversa com Ash por um tempo.
— Eu bebo vinho ou algum tipo de destilado forte.
— Então, quanto você bebe?
Ash descansou o queixo na palma das mãos e fixou o olhar em Carlyle. Ele sorria o tempo todo, mas Carlyle não entendia o que era tão divertido.
— Não me lembro de ter ficado bêbado.
— Não há realmente nada que Carlyle não possa fazer.
— Não sei.
— Ouvi dizer que você não se interessa muito por arte, mas sabe bastante sobre o assunto? Você é a pessoa mais incrível que já conheci.
….. É um elogio desconhecido. Era imerecido para um alfa comum que nunca poderia se destacar entre os alfas dominantes.
— Você parece ter superestimado isso. Comparado ao Sr. Jones não sei nada.
— É perfeito, exceto por ser muito modesto.
Ash continuou a conversa seriamente.

Quando percebeu que havia algo mais, ficou um pouco surpreso. Carlyle perguntou hesitante.

Ash fez uma cara triste. Carlyle ponderou como explicar isso. Ele não pensou que o homem poderia se sentir assim. Não estava consciente disso, mas toda vez que Ash o apresentava a alguém ele sorria. Deve ter se tornado um hábito.
— Geralmente… Quando conheço pessoas ao acaso eu não rio. Fiz isso porque todos eles eram conhecidos do Sr. Jones.
— Acho muito injusto, que você mostre às pessoas aqui um sorriso que eu nunca vi antes.
Nem havia muito para ver, mas Ash disse como se tivesse perdido algo muito importante.
— Então, você tende a fazer isso quando está com outros nobres?

Sentada na cadeira vazia de Ash, Vanessa falou alegremente.
— Saiu um momento para buscar uma bebida.
— Esse não é o Ash Jones que eu conheço, ele está cuidando terrivelmente de seu namorado.
Os olhos de Vanessa brilharam de entusiasmo. Os lábios de Carlyle se abriram com a palavra namorado.
— ….Não sou seu namorado.

Erguendo os óculos, Vanessa juntou as mãos e disse.

Vanessa piscou um olho.

Não sabia por que ela se empolgou, mas Vanessa estava repetindo algo parecido. Então, Ash com uma bebida na mão voltou ao seu lugar. Os olhos de Vanessa se arregalaram com a sombra projetada atrás de suas costas e ela se levantou.
— Ah, aqui está!
— Carlyle, Vanessa te chateou?
Ash perguntou, apontando para Vanessa com uma piscadela. Carlyle olhou para eles e balançou a cabeça. Não se sentiu incomodado porque ouviu muitas histórias inesperadas.
— Tem certeza?
— É verdade! Pode acreditar totalmente no Sr. Frost. Ah, as pessoas estão me chamando. Vou ver o que é. Sr Frost, até a próxima!
Vanessa rapidamente cedeu seu lugar para Ash e correu como uma criança que não queria ser repreendida, se dirigindo para a exposição. Ela estava correndo rapidamente, mas por um momento, tropeçou e cambaleou. Ela era o tipo de pessoa que Carlyle nunca tinha visto antes.

Ash perguntou como um cachorrinho em busca de elogios. No momento em que o viu, um sentimento desconhecido permeou seu coração. Não era um sentimento claro, mas talvez ….
Pode ter pensado que era meio fofo.
— Você fez uma boa escolha.
— Que alívio. Eu estava muito nervoso pensando que poderia ter feito a escolha errada.
— Estou bem com qualquer bebida.
— Ainda assim, é melhor se Carlyle gostar.
Ash fez uma cara de alívio, seguida por um lindo sorriso. De olhos arregalados, ele pegou o coquetel e um estendeu na frente de Carlyle.
— Espero que Carlyle esteja se divertindo.
As palavras suaves de Ash eram mais doces que o cheiro do coquetel.
Depois de um lanche leve no salão de exposição, eles chegaram a um pub em uma rua a uma curta caminhada de Waterloo. Ao contrário do exterior, o pub era elegantemente decorado e havia muita gente no lugar, mesmo sendo hora do almoço.
Sentados no pátio, os dois comeram um assado de domingo. O assado de domingo, que não comia desde a infância, estava delicioso, embora não fosse o tipo de comida que costumava comer. Ash bebeu cidra e Carlyle bebeu vinho. Foi a primeira vez que ele bebeu álcool sem um motivo concreto desde essa manhã. Mas não ódio.
Quando terminaram de comer, já era fim de tarde. Não tinha feito nada de especial, mas Carlyle também se surpreendeu com o tempo que estranhamente passou muito rápido. Na volta, como foi dito pela manhã, resolveram caminhar juntos em vez de pegar um táxi. Embora Carlyle não gostasse de andar no centro devido às buzinas altas, multidões e sujeira no caminho, ele aceitou a oferta de Ash.
No caminho para casa, Ash caminhou conversando. Eles ficaram de mãos dadas o tempo todo enquanto passavam pela multidão de pessoas, seguiram pelo caminho como se tivessem se tornado um casal de amantes.
Só haviam se visto duas vezes e, embora fosse um contato de ponta a ponta, aos olhos dos transeuntes pareciam amantes muito afetuosos. Algumas vezes Carlyle viu pessoas olhando para eles e sussurrando que eles se encaixavam bem.
Esses sussurros foram constantes até chegarem à casa de Carlyle. Toda vez que isso acontecia as palavras de Vanessa, que chamou os dois de namorados, passavam por sua mente.
Os dois pararam em frente ao portão principal da mansão onde finalmente chegaram. Quando o sol começou a se pôr lentamente, o céu ficou avermelhado. Uma suave brisa de primavera acariciou a franja solta de Ash. A luz do sol se misturava com o cabelo escuro esvoaçante, refletindo uma cor quente de madeira.
— Obrigado por me acompanhar.
— É natural. Eu me diverti muito hoje. Espero que Carlyle também tenha gostado.
Ash sussurrou. Carlyle olhou para o homem um pouco mais alto do que ele e respondeu após alguns segundos de silêncio.
— Sim, eu também.
Foi um dia realmente interessante.
— Foi agradável.
Foi um prazer passar um tempo com o homem. Pensou que não seria nada de especial, mas olhando para trás, tudo estava cheio de coisas que nunca tinha experimentado antes. As pessoas à volta de Ash eram o tipo de pessoas que Carlyle nunca chegou a ver, e era incrível ver a alegria e desenvoltura que eles transmitiam.
Carlyle aprendeu hoje pela primeira vez que é possível conversar casualmente sem nenhum cálculo de lucro ou prejuízo.
— Então, até logo.
Ash lentamente soltou a mão que estava segurando e disse. Claramente, essa sensação, que era desconfortável e desconhecida pela manhã, tornou-se familiar para Carlyle em apenas meio dia. À medida que a temperatura quente e suave do corpo desaparecia, sua mão se sentiu vazia.
— Vou entrar em contato com você.
As pontas dos dedos escorregaram e se afastaram. Teve uma sensação inconsciente e momentânea de solidão, como se tivesse perdido aquilo a que tinha se agarrado durante o dia.
— …… Eu estarei esperando.
— Carlyle deve estar exausto, descanse.
Após as saudações, Ash se virou ordenadamente. Ainda assim, os estranhos sentimentos de solidão persistiam em algum lugar da mente de Carlyle. Olhando para as costas de Ash enquanto o homem se virava e caminhava para o outro lado, seus pés não saíram do lugar. Mesmo com a mansão atrás dele, Carlyle só podia esperar.
Pensando não ser o momento, Carlyle não fez nenhum movimento até que as costas de Ash desaparecessem completamente.
