[Aqui e Nicholas White… Ash?]
— Nick.
[Sim. Apenas venha aqui agora.]
Ash esfregou a testa levemente.
Ash abriu a boca.
E lambeu a boca seca.
— Nick!
Kyle se virou e chamou Nick surpreso. Dando de ombros Nick continuou:
— É a festa de compromisso de Carlyle.
Ash franziu as sobrancelhas.
A pintura continuava linda.
Ash prendeu a respiração. Então ele estendeu a mão ligeiramente trêmula e tocou a borda do quadro.
— Obrigado.
Ash esfregou a borda do quadro.
— Você me deu a oportunidade de conhecer Carlyle.
Ele gostava disso no homem.
Então a impaciência tomou conta dele.
Ash riu silenciosamente.
Ele podia ver Carlyle claramente.
Talvez aquela mulher fosse a organizadora do evento.
E então, abriu a boca.
— Carlyle.
— Carlyle.
Ele chamou o nome novamente.
— O que você ia me dizer naquele dia? — Estive pensando. Você disse que tinha algo a me dizer.
Talvez houvesse pessoas assim.
